Fel Pinot Gris Anderson Valley Californien 2018

Parker puts it bluntly: "The finest pinot pig I have ever tasted from the New World". We do not disagree. Winemaker Ryan Hodgins has screwed a fantastic pinot pig along with grapes from three different vineyards, each with their own characteristics - even though they are all located in Anderson Valley. The Wiley and Klindt vineyards are close to the Pacific Ocean, giving the grapes a fresh acidity and citrus notes. The Donnelly Creek vineyard, on the other hand, is better protected from the ocean at the warmer end of the Anderson Valley, which is why the grapes are moving in the direction of more tropical notes. If a wine can be both bold and almost oily, but at the same time light and refreshing, then this is it. Put the snout in the glass and enjoy both pineapple, pear, lime, white flowers and honey. The taste releases nectarine, pear, green melon peel, lime, salted almonds and sliced cucumber in the most exhilarating way. The perfect wine for sushi, for example, or just to enjoy and think that life is actually not that crazy at all. Cliff Lede (pronounced lay-dee) has at least two great passions in this life - wine and rock music. When he bought a 60-acre country estate in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley in 2002 and founded Cliff Lede Vineyards, he immediately divided the fields into areas named after his favorite rock songs and albums. Therefore, you can from Cliff Lede enjoy wine from, for example, "My Generation" and "Dark Side of the Moon". But lastly, make no mistake about the somewhat flippant naming. If you ask Robert Parker, for example, Cliff Lede Vineyards belongs in Napa Valley's absolute super league and just gets better and better every year. Cliff Lede is about any Bordeaux enthusiast, which shines through heavily on his production. The focus is almost exclusively on Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc… except for two wines, where others of the classic grapes from Bordeaux are allowed to be included. But how can one create such a massive success in just 16 years? You can do that if you go all in. Gets his fingers in amazing vineyards, bones like an obsession, invests big time in state-of-the-art production methods and facilities… and from the start allies with one of Napa's most esteemed wine growers, David Abreu. Add to that the fact that Cliff Lede has hand-picked leading capacities for his team year after year, so that today it is one of the wine world's most respectable A-chains, which together score top marks on a streak. Christopher Tynan should be mentioned here, who in these years is considered one of the hottest winemakers in the galaxy… if not the sharpest. Cliff Lede's stated entrepreneurial drive led in 2009 to the acquisition of the small winery Breggo Cellars in Anderson Valley. Cliff Lede renamed the place FEL Wines as a tribute to his mother Florence Elsie Lede. Two years later, the Lede family also took over Savoy Vineyard - some of Anderson Valley's absolute best fields with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Under the FEL name, winemaker Ryan Hodgins creates Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris with grapes from the fields of Anderson Valley and from the Sonoma Coast… all lifelike wines you just can't help but return to again and again.
