Elk Cove vineyards La Boheme Pinot Noir Oregon 2019

When Pat and Joe Campbell planted their first fields in 1974, they simultaneously founded the Elk Cove Wineyards winery. They were pioneers: part of the first wave of modern winemakers who took over Oregon in the 1960s and '70s. Wine has been made on a smaller scale - hobby base, almost - since the 19th century, but Elk Cove became one of Oregon's first quality-oriented, commercial wineries, and the banner bearer for the "cool climate" wines on Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay, such as Willamette Valley is famous for. Today, the area has more than 700 wineries.

Elk Cove is still family owned, with son Adam at the helm of the 6 fields and 380 acres. At his side he has the talented Australian winemaker, Heather Perkin. In 2016, they started the sister winery Pike Road, which focuses on making quality wines for relatively little money.
