Whiplash Jamieson Ranch Zinfandel Lodi California 2017

Whiplash Zinfandel is a large, bombastic red wine from Lodi in California - one of the world's foremost terroirs when it comes to Zinfandel. In addition to Zinfandel, the wine in some vintages contains a small amount of Petit Sirah, which contributes to the blend with dark depth. Whiplash stores 3 months in barrels, of which about 30% is new, French oak.

Jamieson Ranch Vineyards is the southernmost winery in Napa. To the east is Solano County and to the southwest San Pablo Bay, whose sea breeze, breeze and cool morning mist cool the area considerably. Here, so far south, it is on average at least 6 ° C cooler than the northern part of Napa, which means that you can not only make large, voluminous Cabernets, but also fine Chardonnay and delicate Pinots. However, Jamieson Ranch also makes full-bodied Zinfandel with grapes grown further north.

Jamieson Ranch was founded by wine veteran Bill Leigon, who also owns the winery today. The first vintage was 2009 and the house has since become known for superb quality at extremely fair prices. Since 2017, the wine production itself has been in the knowledgeable hands of Linda Trotter. She has 30 years of experience from i.a. Swiftwater Cellars in Washington and Gundlach Bundschu in Sonoma, and in 2018 was named "Napa Valley Winemaker of the Year" by the North Bay Business Journal.
