Elk Cove Reserve Pinot noir Oregon 2016
Elk Cove Pinot Noir is a red wine from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, USA. This is the flagship from Elk Cove, and is made from grapes (100% Pinot Noir) from the company's various fields, which are vinified and stored separately (20% new French oak for 10 months) and finally mixed in just the right ratio. In Oregon, 2017 was a "typical" year, with a cool and wet spring, a dry and hot July and August. The fear that the forest fires in Columbia Gorge would give the grapes "smoke taint" lurked - but fortunately it did not become a problem. 2017 was also the first year in which Elk Cove could use grapes exclusively from its own fields.
