Chateau Croque Michotte Grand Cru Saint Emilion 2013
Château Croque Michotte is a wine from St-Émilion, about a kilometer from the border with Pomerol, in Bordeaux. The wine is grown according to organic principles, and is tightly packed with notes of dark berries, forest floor and tobacco - just like the great St-Émilion must taste! In good years, the wine has a nice storage potential and should be decanted if it is drunk very young.
Château Croque-Michotte has belonged to the same family for over 100 years and it is still the family that cultivates the fields and stores the wines in the cellars under the castle.
The fields, which are just a stone's throw away from some of Pomerol and St-Emilion's most famous lots (with a really good throw you might hit Château Cheval Blanc), are planted with 74% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon . The vines have an average age of 55 years. For almost 13 years, it has been grown according to organic principles (and the wines are certified eco by Ecocert) - not only for the sake of the environment, but because it is believed that it simply gives a more tasty wine with a greater storage potential.
The wines are typically on tap for about 20 months - depending on what the vintage in question has the best of.
