Santa Sofia Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Veneto 2017

Santa Sofia's headquarters and cellars are located in Pedemonte, close to Verona, Italy. Pedemonte is one of the most beautifully located and mildest zones in the classic Valpolicella area. Santa Sofia has for generations built and maintained a great reputation as a small producer with high quality and has for many years produced great wines of the very highest quality. Santa Sofia's wines are the result of a perfect mix of ancient traditions and years of experience with added modern technology. This wine is produced from the grapes Corvina (70%), Rondinella (30%), grown in the Valpolicella area of the Veneto region of Italy. This Ripasso has been stored 9 months in oak barrels and 3-6 months on the bottle before release. The wine is produced on the "Ripasso" method, which directly translated means "passed through again". The term means adding the unpressed shells from the Amarone wines after these wines on dried grapes have finished their fermentation. This gives extra flavour, alcohol, body, character and tannins to the Valpolicella. It is an incredibly nice wine with intense dark ruby red color, elegant scent with notes of spices, harmonious, rich and fruity taste as well as a long and pleasant aftertaste.
