Decelle Villa Chardonnay Bourgogne
Decelle Villa Burgundy Chardonnay is a full-bodied white wine made at Chardonnay. The grapes come from two plots in Puligny Montrachet, "Femelottes" and Près de la Dame", where the clay- and lime-containing soil provides ideal conditions for the Chardonnay grape. The wine is 12 months on tap, of which 15-20% is new, unused oak, giving slightly vanilla-like, toasted notes.
Decelle Villa was founded by two of the great figures of the wine world: Pierre-Jean Villa, a winemaker in Condrieu, Côte Rôtie and Saint Joseph, and Olivier Decelle, who has worked in Roussillon and Saint-Emilion, where he owns Mas Amiel and Château Jean Faure respectively (neighbouring castle to Château Cheval Blanc).
In 2008 they decided to merge their experiences and visions and bought land in Burgundy's Côte D'Or with the ambition of making elegant, beautiful and complex wines with respect for nature. Today it operates with 7 hectares, spread throughout the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Sometimes you buy grapes from outside, from particularly good plots. All the fields owned by Decelle Villa are grown organically, both to keep the ranks healthy and to preserve as much of the terroiret's identity in the wines as possible. Most of the wines are certified organic.
