Weingut Jean Stodden Blanc de Noirs Gutswein Ahr 2019

The Stodden family behind Weingut Jean Stodden can trace its history in the wine industry as far back as 1578. The current winery in Ahr, one of Germany's smallest wine regions, was built in 1900 by Alois Stodden. Today, the great-grandson Alexander is in charge of winemaking, while his father, Gerhard, has his walk in the fields. Of the total of 6.5 - 7 hectares, 88% are planted with Spätburgunder and the rest are Riesling and Frühburgunder. Several of the vines are over 80 years old, and the average age is 35. Jean Stodden's pride is the field Recher Herrenberg - a steep, south-facing slope where Stodden's oldest vines, which supply the grapes for his top wines, enjoy the many hours of sunshine.

Weingut Stodden has never hidden that the ideal is the large Burgundy from Cotes de Nuits. The wines are aromatic and complex, with adorable fruit, structure and excellent storage potential.
