Weingut Leitz Riesling Trocken Berg Kaisersteinfels GG Rheingau 2016
Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Kaisersteinfels is a German white wine made from 100% Riesling. The grapes come from the Kaisersteinfels field in the western Rheingau - one of the area's highest situated markers (275 meters above sea level), and usually the last to ripen and be harvested. Some of the sticks are 80 years old! A juicy and intense wine that scores top marks on both complexity and finesse.
Color: Straw yellow.
Aroma: Finely integrated oak dish supports apples, mirabelles and citrus.
Taste notes: Beautiful, resilient acid, grapefruit, mirabelle and peach.
Serving suggestions: Enjoy it chilled - eg for sushi or seafood.
Johannes Leitz took over the family vineyard from his father in 1999 after being in charge of winemaking since 1985. Under Johannes' ownership, Leitz has only gone one way - upwards! The quality has increased from god to world class and one has managed by expanding the fields with some of the best plots around the city of Rüdesheim.
The hillside west of and around Rüdesheim is one of the most magical terroirs in the world for making wine on the Riesling grape - and thus one of the most magical terroirs in the world for making white wine!
This is where we find, among others, the plots Berg Schloβberg, Berg Rottland, Berg Roseneck and Berg Kaisersteinfels, all four of which enjoy the highest possible classification and recognition in Germany's hierarchy.
