Tolpuddle Vineyard Chardonnay Tasmania 2018
COOL RIVER VALLEY
Located approx. 20 minutes drive from Hobart, in the southeast of Tasmania, Kullet
River Valley has established a reputation for growing grapes of outstanding quality. With a climate that lies in the cold extremes of viticulture, it is no surprise that Chardonnay and Pinot Noir perform it magnificently. An anomaly of such a cool climate is that precipitation is significantly lower than many of Australia's other cool climate areas with an average of around 500 mm of rain per year. This cool but relatively dry climate allows the grapes to ripen slowly in the fall without disease pressure that rain can cause, resulting in large aromatic intensities of grapes.
Tolpuddle Vineyard is a unique place in the Coal River Valley region. Planted in 1988 exclusively for Chardonnay
and Pinot Noir, the vineyard takes its name from the Tolpuddle Martyrs, whose "reward" for starting England's first agricultural union was to be transported to Tasmania as a prisoner. The vineyard is located on a gentle slope, north east facing. The soil is light silica sand over sandstone and of moderate force, ensuring well-balanced vines. Since the acquisition of the winery in 2011, Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith have invested heavily in improving all aspects of the winery, including soil improvement, conversion to sugarcane pruning, trellis changes, frost protection and clone improvements. They are fully committed to seeing it recognized as one of Australia's major single fields.
En af de bedste hvidvine jeg har smagt. Fyldig uden at blive fedladen, og med fine frugter. En superlækker vin, som kun kan anbefales
