The company Taylor's - or Taylor, Fladgate & Yeatman, as it is properly called - is over 300 years old. Taylor's is still a personally owned family business that is completely independent. Taylor's headquarters are located in Vila Nova de Gaia. Here, the port wines are shipped, which are exported to at least 54 countries worldwide - in addition, the port wines are of course also sold in Portugal. The grapes for the port wines from Taylor's are grown in the Douro Valley on Taylor's own three vineyards; Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita and Quinta do Junco. The port wines from Taylor's were, are and will continue to be some of the greatest port wines! Of all the port wine producers, Taylor's has one of the largest reserves of very old oak aged port wine. Among them is a collection of rare Single Harvest Ports, which are port wines from a single year that are stored to full maturity in oak barrels and are bottled with the harvest year printed on the label. Taylor’s has decided each year to tap and release a limited amount of Single Harvest Port harvested 50 years earlier. The fifth port wine in the series is this 1968 Single Harvest Port. This unique and completely exceptional port wine has a nice chestnut brown color, delicate and complex aroma of walnuts, marzipan, black pepper and spices as well as concentrated and full-bodied, but at the same time silky soft taste with a touch of raisins and caramel. At the same time, the wine has a good acidity, which, given the age of the wine, gives it an appealing freshness followed by a long and lasting aftertaste. 98 points in Wine Spectator, February 2018 Nr. 5 on Vivino's list of the world's 30 best wines in 2019
