Tomatin Decades II
Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
In 2011 Tomatin Decades was released to celebrate the vareer of then Master Distiller, Douglas Campbell. A perfect marriage of maturity and youth, Decades brougth together casks from five different decades and exemplified the range and depth of the thousands of casks that lie maturing in the vast warehouses of Tomatin.
Douglas´ successor, Graham Eunson joined Tomation in 2011 as Distillery Manager bringing with him a forward thinking attitude and progressive approach as Master Distiller, Graham has revived decades.
Inspired by Douglas´ original concept, Graham has handpicked 21 casks spanning the last five decades to create Decades II. Utilising his vast experrience in cask management, he has carefully married together five different cask styles. Each golden drop is carefully drawn from the chosen cask, then expertly interwined to produce a unique single malt of exceptional flavour.

1970´s Refill Bourbon hoghsheads
Distilled: 23/02/1973,

Tomatin from the 1970´s is held in exceptionally high regard, prized for its deth and complexity. Matured in refil hoghshead, this malt has taken on very little oak influence which has allowed the air and liquid in the casks to interact and develop array of tropics fruit flavours.
1980´s Finished in First fill Oloroso Sherry Butts
Distilled: 02/12/1988
Tomatin from the 1980´s is sweet and fresh. This malt has been finished for over three years in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry Butt, resulting in a whisky reminiscent of aged Cognac. Tones of leather, polished oak and dark roast coffee along with flavours of stone fruit, dark chocolate and tannin add richness.
1990´s First fill Bourbon barrels. Distilled: 04/10/1995
The use of 1st fill Bourbon barrels has developed a malt with characteristics of golden syrup, freshly baked pasteries with subtle spices add a layer of warmth. Although well into its twenties, Tomatin from the 1990´s is bold which helps impact long length to overall the finish.
2000´s Recharged Verdejo Wine barrels
Distilled: 28/01/2000 and 05/06/2009
From 2000´s onwards Tomatin began to experiment with wider variaty of casks. The malt used from the 2000´s has been matured in Verdejo wine casks which have been re-charged to harness the full influence of the oak. This adds sweetness as well as some spicier notes.
2010´s Second fill French Oak Barrels
Distilled on 14/03/2013
Young Tomatin in second fill casks allows the distillery character to shine thougth. Fresh green fruits and malty characteristics are to fore with subtle spice and toffee from the ligth French oak influence. This is a vivacious malt which adds ligther tones but is kept in balance by the older casks.
