Castello Romitorio
Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta 2016
Castello Romitorio has given this Brunello di Montalcino the name Filo di Seta, "silk thread", after a stream that runs through the nearby forest. The grapes are 100% old-school clones of Sangiovese, planted by Sandro Chia in the 1980s. The field is the house's own, and it is right in front of the Montosoli hill, considered one of Brunello's best terroirs. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before vinification. The wine is aged for approximately 30 months in French oak barrels, and after that a further 12 months in the bottle in Castello Romitorio's cellar. A formidable glass of wine! You can understand why, Castello Romitorio is establishing itself among the top elite of Montalcino.
