Villa Lobos is produced at the La Alteña distillery, where a number of the world's best tequila brands originate. Villa Lobos is always made from 100% blue agave, which is grown in the Camarena family's fields in Los Altos in Arandas. The agave is only harvested when it is fully ripe (typically after 8 years), and baked for 36 hours in brick ovens where the agave's inulin is slowly converted into sugar that can be fermented.
