The grapes for Aalto come from 40-80 year old vines from carefully selected fields in Ribera del Duero and Valladolid. Bodegas Aalto uses only hand harvesting, where the fruit is carefully selected to ensure the highest quality. After harvest, the grapes are vinified and aged for 16 months in a mix of new and used oak barrels from both France and the USA, which gives the wine depth and character.
