Krohn Colheita 1999
The port wine house Wiese & Krohn was founded in 1865 by the two young Norwegians Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn (cousin of Johan Krohn who published 'Peter's Christmas' in 1866). Initially, the house concentrated on the Scandinavian and German markets - but demand soon spread to other parts of the world. Wiese & Krohn's 'claim to fame' has always been their Colheitas. Here the house belongs to the absolute top. The cellars are filled with large sealed barrels of old port wine, just waiting to be bottled. The grape material for the house's port wines comes primarily from Wiese & Krohn's own quinta (vineyard) the class A rated Retiro Novo and from long-term contracts with Retiro Novo's neighbors. In 2013, Wiese & Krohn was acquired by Taylor Fladgate & Yeatman - and the message from the new owners is clear: A continued focus on the core product. World-class Colheitas! If you have not yet tasted the fantastic ones from Wiese & Krohn, stay tuned here. New fresh bottlings are constantly coming home.
