Niepoort Vintage 2000

Niepoort is known for their amazingly tasty port wines. They have been making wines since the 19th century, and over the years have won a sea of awards and accolades from various reviewers around the world. This is another classic Niepoort Vintage; the combination of an excellent concentration, but at the same time a very fine and delicate taste experience. The wine has a wonderful almost rustic character that makes it stand out among its pendants. The port wine was made from low-yielding old vines in the Cina Corgo region of the Duoro Valley. The grapes were pressed into ‘lageres’ (a large, stone-made, trough where the grapes are footed and the grape skin is separated from the pulp to make the grape juice) and later the port wine was aged in large wooden tanks and later in barrels in Vila Nova de Gaia. A concentrated aroma of ripe, dark fruits like plum and notes of black pepper. Intense on the palate with a full body and a long, rich aftertaste. Can easily be drunk already now, but also has the potential to lie even further, where the wine slowly develops in the bottle as it ages. To make a long story short; you can never go wrong in the city with a Niepoort Vintage Port - the quality is exquisite and something only very few other port wines can catch up with. 97 points in Wine Enthusiast Magazine 94 points in Wine Spectator Magazine 93 points in CellarTracker 93 points in Stephen Tanze
