Castello Banfi Brut Metodo Classico
Banfi Brut Metodo Classico Piemonte comes from the Italian wine house, Castello Banfi, located in Tuscany. Castello Banfi is definitely one of Italy's leading and most prestigious wineries. Castello Banfi was named “Best Italian Winery” at VinItaly 2010 - it was the twelfth time in seventeen years that Castello Banfi ran with this great title! This wine is produced on the “Metodo Classico” method, which is Italy's answer to France's classic “Methode Champenoise”. “Metodo Classico” refers to sparkling wines made according to the guidelines of the Italian “Instituto Metodo Classico”. These guidelines include only hand-harvested Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc (Pinot Bianco) and Pinot Noir (Pinot Nero) grapes may be used - and these must be grown in the Piedmont, Lombard, Trentino, Alto Adige, Veneto or Friuli regions. In addition, the wine must have matured after fermentation for a minimum of 15 months after the fermentation of yeast cells - and this maturation must not begin before 1 January of the following year. Banfi Brut Metodo Classico Piedmont is produced from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc grapes grown in the Piedmont region of Italy. After fermentation, the wine has been lying on the sediment of yeast cells etc. for 24 months. It is a beautiful sparkling wine with a nice straw-yellow color, intense and delicate aroma, fresh and well-balanced fruit taste and a gentle and slightly bitter aftertaste. It is a thoroughly harmonious sparkling wine that is particularly suitable as an aperitif.
