The Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Series represents KendallJackson’s commitment and dedication to the Jackson Estate wines. These wines are produced from grapes hand-picked at Jackson State's own vineyards, which are the heart of all Kendall-Jacksons wine production. Every single grape used for Vintner’s The reserve series, is grown in vineyards in the cool coastal areas of California, all of which are under the skill of Kendall-Jackson viticulture team control. This gives the winemakers the best conditions when the finished blends are to be made in the winery. As Kendall-Jackson's late founder, Jess Jackson, said about Vintner’s Reserve Series: “Our goal is to make wines the way you want them enjoy the first time you taste them - and for many years to come. ” The winery, which was purchased by the Jackson family in 1974, consists of 35 acres and is located in Lakeport, Northern California. When they bought it, it was an orchard, but in 1982 it became converted into vineyard. Good wines begin at the vineyard. With Kendall-Jackson is proud to have grapes from some of them best and finest wineries in California. This wine is produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes that are grown on over 40 year old vines in the Santa Maria Bench in Santa Maria Valley in Santa Barbara County, located 106 - 137 meters above sea level. The winemaker calls this area for the “filet mignon” of the Chardonnay grape. After fermentation, the wine has been allowed to lie and mature the remnants of the yeast cells. This technique is called "sur lie", and it gives the wine an extra flavor dimension and sometimes a small, spicy taste of yeast. The wine has been aged for 9 months in French oak barrels (40% new). It is an incredibly elegant and complex white wine with nice color and a fruity and delicate scent. Juicy and full-bodied taste of tropical fruits such as pineapple, mango and papaya with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and crème brûlée as well as an incredibly pleasant aftertaste.
