When they bought it, it was an orchard, but in 1982 it became converted into vineyard. Good wines begin at the vineyard. With Kendall-Jackson is proud to have grapes from some of them best and finest wineries in California. This wine is produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes that are grown on over 40 year old vines in the Santa Maria Bench in Santa Maria Valley in Santa Barbara County, located 106 - 137 meters above sea level. The winemaker calls this area for the “filet mignon” of the Chardonnay grape. After fermentation, the wine has been allowed to lie and mature the remnants of the yeast cells. This technique is called "sur lie", and it gives the wine an extra flavor dimension and sometimes a small, spicy taste of yeast. The wine has been aged for 9 months in French oak barrels (40% new). It is an incredibly elegant and complex white wine with nice color and a fruity and delicate scent. Juicy and full-bodied taste of tropical fruits such as pineapple, mango and papaya with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and crème brûlée as well as an incredibly pleasant aftertaste.
