For more than 20 years, Plantation rum Master Blender Alexander Gabriel has explored the world of rum and its terriors in search of traditional production methods. For this one-time limited edition, he handpicked 22 casks from distileria Sofa, the first distillery in Venezuela with century-old expertise in rum-making.
In Plantation Rum´s signature double-ageing technique, this unique expression aged 8 years in Venezuela, then shipped by sea to the south-west of France, where it matured another 4 years in French Cognac oak from Ferrand casks.
Bordering the Caribbean Sea Venezuela has a long heritage of producing rich and refined rums, traditionally aged in oak casks. This 2010 vintage is an elegant expression of its terrior with delicate note of candied fruits and spices.
