Castellani Sommavite Santovino Dessert wine

Castellani Sommative Santovino
Dessert wine

The Castellani family is one of the pillars of the Tuscan wine industry. The family owns several properties in the region, each of which is run separately with great respect for the uniqueness of the individual fields. In this way, precisely the characteristics that characterize the individual soils are enhanced. Castellani was founded at the end of the 19th century when the winemaker Alfred decided to bottle and sell his wine. In 1903, the company was officially registered at the Chamber of Commerce in Pisa, and since then the Castellani family has exported its exquisite wines from Tuscany to most of the world. The Castellani family focuses on innovation and development, but the very basic philosophy is the same as when the ancestors started the company over 100 years ago, "the quality of a wine starts with the work in the vineyard". The company is still family-run and several generations work together in an exemplary manner to create exquisite wines. Thus, the experience of the older generation is united with the vitality and courage of the younger generation in a common goal of creating wines of high quality.

Beskrivelse

Castellani Sommavite Santovino
Dessert wine

Santovino, Sommavite Vino Liquoroso, Castellani, has a beautiful amber-gold color, the taste is spicy with pleasant, slender sweetness with notes of soft caramel and nuts finely balanced, without being too sweet.

Santovino is produced from the grape varieties: Trebbiano 80% and Malvasia 20%.

When the fully ripe grapes are harvested, the best bunches are selected for drying. The bunches are placed to dry on shelves in well-ventilated attics to avoid rot and fungus in the grapes. The bunches are left to dry for three to four months, until they have achieved a suitable concentration of sugar. Subsequently, the grapes are de-stemmed and pressed, the skins remain in the fermenting must to achieve the unique fullness of the finished wine. Once fermentation is over, the wine is aged for more than 1 year in Caratelli, small oak casks that vary in size from 50 to 200 litres, before being bottled.

Contains: 50 cl.
