Single Cask – Ex-Wente Red – Full Proof

Tasting notes

Nose: Intense and aromatic with notes of dark berries, dried fruit, red wine, vanilla and spicy oak. Underlying notes of cocoa and a light floral touch add depth.

Taste: Rich, powerful and structured with layers of caramelized sugar, dark cherries, plums, cocoa and warm spices. The alcohol strength is pronounced but nicely integrated, giving length and authority.

Finish: Very long and persistent with vinous notes, spicy oak, dark fruit and an elegant dry finish.

History of the house

Nine Leaves distillery was founded in 2013 by Takeuchi Yoshiharu in the town of Otsu in Shiga Prefecture. Drawing inspiration from both Caribbean rum tradition and Japanese craft philosophy, Nine Leaves created a unique style characterized by purity, precision and uncompromising respect for the raw materials. The distillery closed in 2023, making all remaining bottlings extremely sought after by collectors worldwide.
