Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2013 – Grands Crus champagne from Reims

When only the best is good enough, Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2013 stands out. This is not just champagne – it’s an icon. One of the world’s most coveted prestige cuvées, made exclusively from Chardonnay from the very best Grands Crus vineyards in the Côte des Blancs. A champagne where finesse, depth and timeless elegance merge in an expression that is both rare and unforgettable.

Comtes de Champagne is only produced in the very best vintages, and 2013 is just such a year. A cool and long growing season yielded grapes of exceptional freshness, precision and enormous ageing potential. The result is an elegant, mineral and extremely refined Blanc de Blancs that already impresses – but will reward patience for decades to come.

The champagne is made from grapes from Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger – five legendary Grands Crus towns that together define the pinnacle of Chardonnay in Champagne. Only the first pressing is used and a small portion of the wine is aged briefly in new oak barrels to add subtle structure without overpowering the purity of the grape.

Tasting notes

Color: Crystal clear, light golden color with extremely fine and elegant bubbles.

Nose: Delicate and complex bouquet with notes of white peach, lemon zest and white flowers. Underlying notes of toasted almonds, freshly baked brioche, vanilla and a pronounced chalky minerality.

Flavor: Silky, focused and precise. Fresh citrus and floral notes are balanced by creamy nougat and subtle toasted nuances from the cask. The finish is long, lean and mineral with impressive depth and elegance.

Serving: A sublime aperitif and a perfect match for oysters, caviar, white fish tartare or elegant seafood dishes with beurre blanc.

The story of Taittinger and Comtes de Champagne

Maison Taittinger is one of the last great family-owned champagne houses and is based in Reims. Beneath the house lie the historic Gallo-Roman limestone caves – now a UNESCO World Heritage Site – where Comtes de Champagne matures for up to 10 years in ideal conditions.

The name Comtes de Champagne dates back to the 16th century and the legend of Thibaud IV le Chansonnier, Count of Champagne and poet. The first vintage saw the light of day in 1952, and since then only a very limited number of vintages have been produced – each one only when nature and craftsmanship allow for absolute perfection. Comtes de Champagne is the ultimate signature of the house and a symbol of the balance between strength and grace.
