Heaven Hill
Pikesville Straight Rye Whisky

Distillery: Heaven Hill
Age in barrels: For at least 6 years
Strength: 110 proof - 55%

Prohibition shuttered most of the once-booming Maryland Rye Distillery. Pikesville, produced since the 1890s, reemerged after prohibition and became the lone brand to keep this style of rye alive. Now produced in Kentucky from extra-aged barrels stored in prime warehouse locations, Heaven Hill has reclaimed the past with rich and spicy notes of Pikesville.

This Pikesville Straight Rye whiskey from Heaven Hill is made from 51% rye, 39% corn and 10% malted barley. Therefore, this whiskey lives up to the requirement that a Rye Whiskey must contain a minimum of 51% rye - In addition to this, this whiskey is stored for a minimum of 6 years and has been bottled with a strength of 55%

Heaven Hill is behind this Pikesville, which they bought the rights to back in 1982 when Pikesville otherwise made it through the prohibition period but unfortunately had to close in 1972 and stop the production of this whiskey.
