To the east of the towns of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Sint-Georges between Dijon and Beaune lies the 30-hectare vineyard Domaine de Montmain. The winery is located on top of the hill in the town of Villars Fontaine and since 1984 has operated as a classic wine producer. The domaine produces both AOC Hautes Côtes de Nuits in red and white versions as well as Bourgogne Aligoté and Gamay-based Coteaux Bourguignons wines.

As no get quite special, they specialize in domain-maturing the wines in the bottle before release, which means that the producers offer mature and ready-to-drink Burgundy wines – we are talking about both five, ten and 20 bottles of aging at Château de Villars Fontaine. Here it is in this case, it tastes like a lot of Burgundy wine.
Would you like to find a new bottle of Domaine de Montmain and Château de Villars Fontaine? The domaine changed its name a few years ago, which means that the older vintages from the house are bottled under the old name “Château de Villars Fontaine” and the younger vintages are bottled under the new name “Domaine de Montmain”. Over time, the name Château de Villars Fontaine will therefore be phased out completely – quite simply.
