Tasting notes

Nose: Complex and refined with deep notes of old oak, polished leather, dark toffee and dried fruit. Subtle nuances of orange peel, nuts, spices and a hint of cocoa.

Taste: Elegant, calm and deeply layered. The palate offers dried fruits, honey, dark chocolate, coffee and warm oak. Everything is perfectly integrated and rounded with no sharp edges.

Finish: Very long, warm and lingering with notes of spice, cocoa, slightly bitter chocolate and noble oak that slowly fades.

A whisky shaped by history and independence

Glenfarclas’ history is closely linked to the family’s independence. After the failed partnership with Leith-based Pattison Elder & Co, George Grant never again chose to rely on outside investors. In 1930, he bought the freehold of Glenfarclas, ending the family’s status as tenants.

That decision laid the foundation for Glenfarclas as we know it today: a fully family-owned distillery with the freedom to think long-term, store whisky for decades and put quality over quick profit. Glenfarclas 50 Years Old is the ultimate result of that philosophy.
