Art and rum in perfect harmony

Magnum Series #3 is created in collaboration with Magnum Photos. This edition is graced by Spanish photographer Cristina de Middel, former president of the Magnum agency.
She spent a week at Hampden and captured the vibe of the distillery’s life and energy. One of her images, “Raatid“, was chosen for the label.
The word “Raatid” is Jamaican slang for surprise – and it accurately describes the feeling you get on first taste.

Tasting notes

Nose: Rich and aromatic with notes of overripe pineapple, green banana, orange peel and fresh sugar cane. Underlying hints of caramel, toffee and spicy oak.
Taste: Intense and rich with layers of tropical fruit, vanilla, licorice, ginger and a hint of smoke. The high ester concentration gives a creamy, rich mouthfeel.
Finish: Long, warm and complex with sweetness from dried fruit, wood and molasses.

Hampden Estate – An icon in the rum world

Founded in 1753, Hampden Estate is one of Jamaica’s oldest distilleries. Located in lush Trelawny, it produces some of the world’s most aromatic rums.
Production is by natural fermentation, pot still distillation and aging in tropical conditions.
Since the Hussey family took over the distillery in 2009, Hampden has maintained its traditional methods. At the same time, they have opened their doors to the world and given rum lovers an authentic taste of Jamaica.
