Hampden LROK 9 Year Jamaica Rum 2016 is an uncompromising and artistic limited edition that brings together everything that makes Jamaican rum legendary: intensity, tradition and raw character. The rum was distilled in 2016 and aged for a full 9 years in the tropical climate of Trelawny, Jamaica. Bottled at a whopping 60%, it represents the LROK (Light Rum Owen Kelly) brand – known among connoisseurs for its explosive aromatics, high ester profile and uncompromising depth. It’s rum for connoisseurs, enthusiasts and collectors who want the true Hampden experience without filters.

Developed in collaboration with Magnum Photos, Magnum Series #3 is adorned with the work of renowned Spanish photographer Cristina de Middel. She spent time at the distillery and captured the raw energy and authenticity that permeates Hampden Estate. The label bears the image “Raatid” – Jamaican slang for “surprise” – a name that perfectly captures the expression of the rum.

Tasting notes

Nose: Expressive and intense with overripe pineapple, green banana, orange peel and fresh sugar cane. Underlying notes of caramel, toffee and spicy oak.

Taste: Powerful and layered with tropical fruit, vanilla, licorice and ginger. The high ester profile gives a creamy, rich mouthfeel and a distinctly funky Hampden character.

Finish: Long, warm and complex with dried fruit, molasses and wood that lingers long after the last sip.

The history of the house

Founded in 1753,Hampden is one of Jamaica’s oldest and most iconic rum distilleries. Located in lush Trelawny, Hampden is world renowned for its extremely aromatic rums, produced with natural fermentation, pot still distillation and aging in tropical conditions.

Since the Hussey family took over the distillery in 2009, Hampden has both preserved its historic production methods and opened up to the world. The result is rums that stand as authentic expressions of Jamaica – raw, honest and full of personality. LROK 9 Year Magnum Series #3 is a tribute to this heritage, refined through art and passion.
