Abuelo Centuria Reserva de la Famille

For fans of the sweet rum style, there is a good reason why Ron Abuelo Centuria Reserva de Familia was named Best New Rum at the Golden Rum Barrel Awards October 2011 in London. Ron Abuelo Centuria has also achieved 95/100 points on Romhatten.dk - see their rating here: http://www.romhatten.dk/Abuelo_Centuria_Reserva_de_la_Familia.php. Taste notes for Ron Abuelo Centuria Reserva de la Familia. Nose: thick, sticky, syrupy nose with smoky notes of molasses and black syrup. Vanilla and barrel char, a touch of greasy espresso bean and a beautiful note of cedar. It develops into hints of asphalt on a hot day this summer, old ropes and apple sprinkled with dark brown sugar. Taste: Sweet and rounded, intensely fruity like apple strudel with soft, juicy sultanas, nutmeg and cinnamon. Melted vanilla ice cream, toasted brioche with Demerara sugar, caramel apples and just a touch of smoke. The whole package is not unlike bread and butter pudding. Finish: Medium finish with prunes and walnut. Hints of cardamom on the tail. It almost also feels like a real Pedro Ximinez sherry aftertaste.
