The story behind 14 Hands Winery
The inspiration behind 14 Hands Winery comes from the wild horses that once roamed freely across the rolling landscape of eastern Washington. These small but strong horses stood barely 14 hands tall (about 140 cm), and their indomitable spirit lives on in every bottle of wine from 14 Hands. The label features a vibrant design created by award-winning artist Cynthia Sampson, known for her lively paintings.

Adaptation, Napa Valley by the PlumpJack Collection of Wineries has been a fast staple in the family of Odette Wines for over a decade, and again this year it gets a new look. The majority of Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Ink Grade (on the backside of Howell Mountain) which provides the framework and structure to carry this wine. To balance the blend, we incorporated vineyards from Pope Valley, Stags Leap District and Oak Knoll, all of which complement the abundance of tannin, color and structure already in place. This diversity and range within Napa Valley has allowed us to craft a wine that showcases the unique Napa Valley terroir in an approachable, elegant style.

Alpha Omega proudly presents ERA Napa valley 2021, the 15th vintage of our flagship wine. The milestone has inspired us to take moment and reflect on the wine that defines Alpha Omega and excemplifies the essence of Napa Valley. ERA represents the highest level of dedications to handcrafting a wine which serves as the confluence of Old World traditions and New World techniques.

The philosophies and practice embodied in our first vintage of ERA in 2006 are still very evident

ERA will always be be the first wine we craft. From each lot of red grapes that arrives at the winery, our vinemakers select the very best from our extraordinary collection of Napa Valley´s finest vineyards. Given the unique climate characteristics each year, the list of vineyards changes, empowering us to find the perfect combination that vividly expresses the vintage.

The charging lineup of vineyards and varieties each year also demonstrates how succesfully Bordeaux varietieshave adapted to the hillside, valley floor and mountain tops of Napa Valley. Wheather it´s Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, Spring Mountain Merlot or Atlas Peak Petit Verdot, we always strive to select fruit for ERA that reveal the best match of grape and place.

Choosing the finest oak barrels for ERA, always a 100% fermented red wine, is paramount. As pioneers in the barrel fermentation process, we can attest to the dramatic integration of flavours and tannins in the wine that is further augmented by significant ageing potential.

ERA 2021 promises to tell the story of the vintage and the very best of Napa Valley for many years to come.

Alpha Omega is located in Napa Valley, California. The winery was founded by Robin and Michelle Baggett, who moved here in 2006. Robin had previously (1998) founded Tolosa Winery in San Luis Obispo, but was now ready to try his hand at the unique terroir a little further north in Napa Valley.

Alpha Omega itself owns fields in Rutherford, and particularly worth mentioning is, for example, Thomas Vineyard - a kind of "field laboratory", where with advanced technology they can make precise measurements of water, weather and ripeness, as well as the eponymous Alpha Omega 1155 Vineyard ( after the winery's address) where it says primarily Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

PlumpJack started its history back in 1992 with a wine shop in San Francisco called PlumpJack Wines. Their mission was to create an environment that was for people who wanted to learn about wine as well as buy wine. Plumpjack Winery was subsequently founded in 1997 in OakVille Cross Road in Napa Valley. They were the first winery to use screw caps on their fine wines. The name PlumpJack is inspired by Shakespeare's Sir John Falstaff (Henry IV), who was christened Plump Jack by Queen Elizabeth. Subsequently, Cade Estate Winery and Odette Estate winery have come under PlumpJack. Like PlumpJack, Cade takes its name from Shakespeare, who used the term to describe wine casks or casks shipped from Bordeaux to England during Elizabethan times.

Decades 5 – 2011
Stagecoach Vineyard Napa Valley

Grapes: 100% Petit Verdot

The wine producer Decades 5 uses exclusively the Petit Verdot grape. This grape is one of the blue grapes, although much overlooked in Bordeaux, among others. This wine from Decades 5 comes from the Stagecoach vineyard, which is one of the warmer blocks in the vineyard, giving this grape a long growing season where this variety can really shine through.

92.5% Syrah, 7.5% Viognier from SJR Vineyard

Deep purple-red hue with a complex bouquet of violets, licorice, damson plums, blackberries, grilled herbs, bacon fat, simmering incense, and dark chocolate. Richly textured and lively on the palate with well-delineated notes of black plum, raspberries, truffles, nutmeg, licorice, white pepper and rocky minerality. Subtle hints of espresso, sage and vanilla are also present. The long, sustained finish echoes tones of blackberries, truffles, and rocky minerality. This wine nicely shows all the amazing characteristics of the SJR winery: elegance, harmony, finesse and a fascinating sense of place. Like many of Delma's predecessors, this wine meets the intellect as well as the palate. Patience will be rewarded; this wine should reach a nice stage of maturity in 7-9 years and will last for about 15+ years.

This special wine honours the dedicated work of our harvest interns. Each vintage, a few winemaking students from across the globe come to Elk Cove to experrince a Willamette Valley vintage. They work long hours as we transorm fruit into wine. In 2019, our "Harvest Cru", managed a single fermenter from our Mount Richmond Vineyard to create this robust and fruit-forward Pinot Noir.

We planted La Bohème Vineyard in 1985 by selecting the very best vines from our original Estate Pommard plantings. Pat and Joe Campbell named the vineyard after the family who sold them the property – and their favorite Puccini opera. This picturesque vineyard overlooks the winery and the coast range mountains and rises to 800 feet, making it one of the highest elevation vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley. La Bohème was planted using cuttings from vines selected for small cluster size and intense flavors, hallmarks of the world's finest Pinot Noirs. We prune and cluster-thin La Bohème heavily to limit yields and to maximize ripening and flavor concentration.

Mount Richmond Pinot Noir 2017 Magnum

Mount Richmond was designed to mimic the wine quality of our Roosevelt Vineyard. The vines were planted in a high density format using cuttings of the Pommard clone Pinot Noir taken directly from the prized block. An elevation of only 300 feet allows for earlier ripening, protecting us from weather events. This also extends the harvest season, bringing out different flavor components compared to our higher elevation Estate Vineyard. With close to 200 planted acres, Mount Richmond is the largest vineyard holding in Elk Cove. Several of the high density blocks are newer (2009-2017) and now include the Dijon clones (777 & 115). Already producing exceptional single vineyard Pinot Noirs, this winery will continue to develop its full potential in the coming years.

Our winemaking team considers barrels from all our estate plantings to make Reserve our very best Pinot Noir. In 2019, the final blend included three barrels from La Bohème Vineyard, two from Goodrich, two from Mount Richmond and a single barrel each from our Clay Court and Roosevelt vines.
We only make a reserve in exceptional years and select less than 1% of our Pinot Noir to make the best wine imaginable, balancing different components from our best vineyard blocks.

This Roosevelt vineyard was planted back in 1993 by Elk Cove, and has quickly become one of the most recognized vineyards and finest that Elk Cove has. This wine is made 100% from Pinot Noir, and is aged in French oak casks where 24% of the casks are new, and only the best of the casks are selected to make this wine. Roosevelt Vineyard is named after the majestic Roosevelt Elk that still roam nearby in the northern Willamette Valley. Located on Willakenzie land on the Elk Cove Estate, this vineyard was planted in high density for quality and concentration in the wines from this field.

Elk Cove is one of the oldest wine producers in Oregon, and they are also behind the wines from Pike Road, which they believe you should have a good glass of Pinot Noir wine but at reasonable prices.

Roosevelt Pinot Noir 2019 Magnum

Roosevelt Vineyard was planted in 1993 and has quickly become Elk Cove's most prized vineyard site. A four acre high density (2100 vines per acre) planting located just south of the vineyard on Willakenzie land, Roosevelt's south facing hillsides to a steep precipice overlooking the magnificent Williams Canyon. Roosevelt undergoes extensive pruning and cluster thinning to limit yield and maximizes ripening to concentrate the fruit and is managed using fully organic practices. All of these elements combine to consistently produce one of Oregon's finest Pinot Noirs.

With 45 years, Elk Cove has often said there isn't a harvest they haven't seen, but 2019 was one of the exceptions. With a healthy and early fruit set and a nice warm up in May, the summer ended cool with no threat of sunburn, or haze, or a smoky sky like Elk Cove has experienced in the past. Elk Cove thought they would pick the grapes early in September, but with a few weeks of very cool weather they were surprised and instead of rushing and getting the grapes picked early, patience became a virtue and Elk Cove waited for the concentration and sugar levels in the grapes were to rise, they became convinced that their vineyard practices would protect the fruit.

According to winemaker/owner Adam Campbell "You choose your moments. If you are 100% estate grown and you have impeccable timing - you can grow amazing fruit in any year. It took months of preparation in the vineyard, and some very long days during the crush, but we had a great crew in 2019 and managed to get the sugar levels right where we want them.” Our target is a minimum of 100 days from flowering to harvest; 2019 saw times as long as 125 days in some blocks.

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Sitting high above the fog on Napa Valley´s eastern side, the Howell Mountain AVA is known for producing dense ande commanding Cabernet Sauvignon.

From grapes grown in well-drained soils of volcanic ash and clay, this wine combine notes of cassis, dried blackberry, mocha and tobacco leaf with firmly-structured tannins and a broad, mouth-filling texture.
