The transverse valley is an extension of the ocean, with a funnel leading past Morro Bay, 3,600 feet below the Pacific Ocean. The cold Pacific breeze sweeps down the coast and into the valley and vineyards, creating a microclimate ideal for ripening delicate Pinot Noir grapes. Fluctuations in hot and cold are further enhanced by the Pismo Venturi effect that clears the evening fog.
