Baron Gaston Legrand Bas Armagnac 1921

Baron Gaston Legrand Bass Armagnac

Armagnac is a French grape brandy produced in the Armagnac region, located between the rivers Adour and Garonne in Gascony south of Bordeaux, at the foot of the Pyrenees. This avec is made from green grapes and Baron G. Legrand uses only the noblest grape varieties: Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard and Baco Blanc.

Armagnac is made by distilling the must of grapes 1 time (not 2 times, as for example in Cognac). The alcohol that is made is not called Armagnac (it can only be called Armagnac after 3 years of aging in barrels), but is called "eau-de-vie" and has an alcohol percentage of 52 to 60. Distillation runs continuously from November/December until the end of March. Armacnac is subsequently matured in French oak casks just like Cognac and therefore they also resemble Cognac in expression.
