The Arran Distillery is known for its commitment to producing exceptional single malt Scotch whisky. Here are some key details about the distillery:

Location: Arran Distillery operates two distilleries on the Isle of Arran. The first distillery, which opened almost 30 years ago, is located in Lochranza. The second distillery, opened in 2019, is situated in the south of the island at Lagg. Each distillery produces a unique style of whisky.

Water Source: The purity of the water used in whisky production is of paramount importance. Arran Distillery benefits from the pristine water of Loch na Davie, which is a source of fresh water for distillation. Rainwater, collected from the beautiful hills behind the distillery, gathers at Loch na Davie. The water then flows down the hillside, passing through six waterfalls, each contributing to further purification. The name of the burn, Easan Biorach, translates to 'Sharp Waterfalls' in Gaelic.

Water Purity: The water's purity allows Arran Distillery to create clean, sweet whisky that is entirely natural and unadulterated. They do not add caramel or engage in chill filtration, preserving the full flavor of their whisky.

Bottling Strength: The whiskies produced by Arran Distillery are often bottled at 46% ABV. This bottling strength ensures that the whisky can stand up to dilution and even a splash of water, allowing enthusiasts to explore and enjoy the flavors of the whisky.

Arran Distillery's commitment to purity and the use of natural ingredients, coupled with the beautiful location on the Isle of Arran, contribute to their reputation for producing exceptional single malt Scotch whisky.

Arran The Devil's Punch Bowl Chapter 2
Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Chapter 2 of the Devil´is Punch Bowl is a true contrast of light and shade hence the title "Angels & Devils". The 1997 & 1998 hogsheads I have chosen provide the foundation for this whisky and add a rich amd satisfyring depth. These are the finest ex-Oloroso Spanish oak casks and their influence is unmistakable with a distinctive spicy character and notes of cigar box and dark chocolate. It the sherry casks are the darkness than the 2002 barrels bring a ray of sunshine to proceedings with soft vanilla notes and more of the typical Arran citrus emerging, especially with a dash of water. Finally, our oldest Peated Arran casks from 2004 bring an earthiness not found in other releases of The Arran Malt and add further complexity to this intriguing concoction.

The Arran Smugglers Series - Volume Three: Final Consignment
Single Malt Scotch Whiskey 56.8%

Limited Edition – The Exciseman
Take a journey through whiskey history with the final installment in the popular Arran Smugglers Series. Volume Three: Final Consignment celebrates the island's rich past as a center of illicit distilling and smuggling, capturing both the spirit of adventure and exceptional craftsmanship in each bottle. Affectionately referred to as "The Exciseman," this limited edition is a fitting end to a series that has celebrated Arran's unique character and history.

Two barrel adventures in one bottle
This unique single malt is created by combining two special maturation methods:

Quarter Cask Maturation: Matured in small 125L ex-bourbon casks, giving vivid notes of vanilla, coconut and orchard.
Madeira Cask Maturation: Aged in 225L European oak casks which add layers of dried fruit, honey sweetness and a touch of spice.
This cask combination pays homage to Arran's past, when small casks were easy to transport and were used for the illicit liquor trade.

Brave and Nuanced
Bottled at an impressive cask strength of 56.8%, this whiskey is as intense and fearless as the smugglers who navigated the Arran coastline. The taste is complex and perfectly balanced with a harmony between sweet and spicy that invites you to an unforgettable taste experience.

A collector's item of the highest class
This exclusive whiskey is wrapped in beautifully designed packaging that reflects Smugglers Series' heritage. Perfect for collectors and enthusiasts alike, Final Consignment is not just a bottle of whisky, but a piece of Arran's history.

Arran - James Mactaggart - Master of Distilling II
Limited Edition

Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Distilling at: Arran
Age: 12 Years old
Bottles in all: 12.000
Strength: 51,8%

Licence to destill:
To create this bottiling I have worked with a boutique producer of some of the finest Sherry wines from Jerez de la Frontana who are experts in the use of the Pedro Ximénez grape variaty. Their production philosophy and family values perfectly match those of our own here in Arran. In 2016 I travelled to Jerez and had the privilege of selecting some of their very best oak casks from their Palo Cortado "1964 Solera" to bring back to Lochranza. This secondairy maturation affords the whisky a luxurious mouthfeel, hints of almond and an elegant salinity which pairs beautiful with the inmate fruitness of the Arran malt.
