The Italian winery, Castello Banfi, located near Montalcino in Tuscany, has a total of approx. 3,000 hectares. The vineyard was founded in 1978, and today approx. 1,000 hectares of wine. In addition, the winery has one of Europe's most advanced wineries as well as a fortress from the 11th century, which has been furnished as a luxury restaurant. Today, the vineyard is very well known for producing good wines of very high quality.

Summus means "top of the mountain" and is Castello Banfi's top wine. This wine is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Syrah grapes, and this grape composition has been carefully selected. The Syrah grapes have given the wine its overall character. The Sangiovese grapes have created the inviting and good body. Last but not least, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes have provided the fantastic structure and fruit flavor. The grapes have first fermented in steel tanks, and then the wine has aged 18-24 months in French oak barrels before finally bottling. Bottle storage takes place a few months before release.
