Baron Gaston Legrand Bas Armagnac 1974

Baron Gaston Legrand Bas Armagnac 1974 is an impressive vintage Armagnac from the heart of the Armagnac region in southwest France. This rare vintage represents classic craftsmanship and long aging, where time has given the spirit depth, elegance and complexity. A true collector’s bottle for connoisseurs of old Armagnac.

The Armagnac was distilled in 1974 and then aged for many years in French oak barrels where it has slowly developed its character. The long maturation gives a rich structure with layers of fruit, spices and mature wood notes. The result is a refined and harmonious spirit that showcases the classic style of Bas-Armagnac.

The grapes for this Armagnac are Ugni Blanc, Baco Blanc and Colombard, grown in Bas-Armagnac – the most recognized area in the appellation. The soil in the area is mainly sand and clay, resulting in distillates with finesse, freshness and great ageing potential.

Bas-Armagnac is known for producing some of the most elegant and aromatic Armagnacs. The combination of relatively low alcohol and high acidity in the base wine results in distillates that develop complexity through long barrel aging.
