Château de Camensac Haut-Médoc 1985 – 5th Cru Classé Bordeaux
Château de Camensac Haut-Médoc 1985 is an exciting, mature Bordeaux from one of the Médoc’s classified estates. After more than 40 years of aging in the bottle, the wine offers a completely different experience than a young Bordeaux, with complexity, finesse, and ripe aromas taking center stage.
Château de Camensac is located in Saint-Laurent-Médoc, close to the border with Saint-Julien. The château was classified as a 5th Cru Classé in the famous 1855 Bordeaux classification.
Mature Haut-Médoc from the 1985 vintage
1985 is a classic Bordeaux vintage, and after decades of bottle aging, the wine’s fruit has evolved into a more complex profile. Dried red fruit blends with cedar, leather, earth, and spices in an elegant and mature expression.
This is a wine for the curious Bordeaux enthusiast and, at the same time, an exciting gift for someone with a connection to the 1985 vintage.
Serve it with classic dishes featuring beef, lamb, or game. A mature Bordeaux like this should be handled with care. It is recommended to store the bottle upright before serving so that any sediment can settle at the bottom.

The History of Château de Camensac
Château de Camensac has a long history in the Haut-Médoc. Joseph Popp purchased the estate in 1799, and under the Popp family, the château was recognized as a 5th Cru Classé in 1855. In 1860, Bruno Popp expanded the wine cellars and helped modernize production at the estate.
In 1964, the Forner family took over Château de Camensac. Together with the renowned oenologist Émile Peynaud, they made significant investments in the vineyards and production. It was during this period that the 1985 Château de Camensac was produced.
Château de Camensac is situated on deep gravel soils in the Haut-Médoc, where Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the primary grape varieties. The combination of terroir, classic Bordeaux craftsmanship, and many years of bottle aging makes the 1985 vintage an intriguing piece of wine history.
