The history of the house

Château d’Issan has a history stretching back hundreds of years and is one of the most traditional estates in Margaux. Since 1945 it has been owned by the Cruse family, and since 1998 Emmanuel Cruse has been at the helm.

Under his leadership, quality has been significantly improved through investments in modern technology and even stricter selection of the grapes. A larger proportion of the production is now used for the second wine Blason d’Issan, ensuring that only the very best lots go into the grand vin. This has resulted in a level of quality that today places Château d’Issan among the most respected 3rd Cru Classé châteaux.
