Château du Tertre Margaux 2017 – Grand Cru Classé from 1855

Château du Tertre Margaux 2017 is the epitome of classic Bordeaux, when elegance, structure and history go hand in hand. This is a refined red wine from the heart of Margaux in Médoc – made for wine lovers seeking authenticity, finesse and a piece of true French wine history in the glass.

Located at the highest point of the Margaux appellation, the chateau’s vineyards enjoy optimal exposure and a unique terroir characterized by gravel and stone. These conditions provide perfect conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in particular, which together create a wine with impressive balance, freshness and aromatic depth. The fact that Château du Tertre was classified as a Grand Cru Classé as early as 1855 is an obligation – and the 2017 vintage fully lives up to it.

This Margaux is an obvious choice for festive dinners, vinous moments and as a great gift for the Bordeaux enthusiast. A wine that both impresses the experienced connoisseur and beautifully welcomes new wine connoisseurs into Bordeaux’s distinguished universe.

Tasting notes

On the nose, the wine opens elegantly with sun-ripened cherries and black currants, accompanied by delicate notes of cedar, vanilla and light spice from barrel aging. Subtle hints of violet and graphite add further complexity. The palate is silky smooth with ripe, well-integrated tannins and a beautiful, classic structure. The fruit is precise and vibrant with nuances of cherry, blackberry and a subtle hint of licorice. The aftertaste is long, harmonious and finishes with an elegant mineral note.

The history of the house – Château du Tertre

Château du Tertre is history in a bottle. Wine production can be traced back to the 12th century and since the 18th century, the castle has been known for its quality wines. In 1855, Château du Tertre achieved its Grand Cru Classé status – a seal of quality that is still among the most coveted in Bordeaux. With its 52 hectares of vineyards all in one piece of land and a unique location at the top of Margaux, the house manages to combine nature’s optimal conditions with generations of winemaking expertise. Today, the château is run with great respect for both tradition and modern winemaking, resulting in elegant wines with depth, personality and ageing potential.
