Château Guiraud Sauternes 1996 – 1er Cru Classé dessert wine with mature elegance

Château Guiraud 1996 is a classic and mature Sauternes from one of the area’s most respected châteaux. This 1er Cru Classé from the historic 1855 classification represents everything that makes Sauternes one of the world’s most coveted dessert wines: complexity, depth and a seductive balance of sweetness and freshness.

The 1996 vintage has developed a beautiful mature character over time, with the wine’s golden color becoming deeper and more amber. Here, botrytis-influenced aromas, honey and dried fruit come together in an elegant and complex wine experience. It is a wine that is already beautifully developed today, but still possesses the structure and acidity that makes Sauternes so long-lasting.

The grapes for Château Guiraud are harvested in several rounds, selecting only those grapes that are perfectly affected by Botrytis cinerea – the noble rot. This natural process concentrates the sugars and aromas of the grapes, creating a wine with a unique depth and intensity.

The result is a wine with impressive complexity and a silky smooth texture. It’s perfect for finishing a big meal, with foie gras or strong blue cheeses – but it can also be enjoyed on its own as a luxurious wine experience.

About Château Guiraud

Château Guiraud is one of the most traditional and respected châteaux in Sauternes. Founded in the 18th century, the vineyard was classified as 1er Cru Classé in 1855, placing it among the very best producers in the area.

The vineyards are located on some of the most ideal plots in Sauternes, where the morning mist from the Ciron River creates perfect conditions for the development of Botrytis cinerea. This natural process is the basis for the big, complex dessert wines for which the area is famous.

Today, Château Guiraud is known for its combination of traditional craftsmanship, sustainable cultivation and uncompromising quality. The result is wines with great depth, intensity and impressive ageing potential.
