Domaine Philippe Girard Corton Grand Cru “Perrières” Magnum 2020

Domaine Philippe Girard Corton Grand Cru “Perrières” Magnum 2020 is an impressive Grand Cru from Burgundy in magnum format. The wine comes from the famous Corton hill in the Côte de Beaune, where some of the area’s most powerful and age-worthy Pinot Noir wines are created. The magnum bottle allows for an even more harmonious maturation and makes the wine ideal for both cellaring and special occasions.

The Perrières Grand Cru vineyard is located on the Corton hill, where the soil and microclimate create perfect conditions for Pinot Noir. Here the grapes develop great concentration and complexity. The result is a wine with deep fruit, structure and elegance. The 2020 vintage is particularly well-balanced with great intensity and classic Burgundy finesse.

The grapes come from vines with an average age of around 35 years. The mature vines give a lower yield but much more concentrated fruit. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels. Between 40 and 50% of the barrels are new, giving the wine extra depth, complexity and structure.

The 150 cl magnum format is particularly suitable for aging. The larger bottle allows for a slower development and brings out the balance and finesse of the wine over time. This makes this Corton Grand Cru an ideal wine for collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts.

Tasting notes

  • Palate: Rich and complex with juicy red fruit, fine spices and nice minerality.
  • Finish: Long and elegant finish with silky tannins and classic Burgundy character.
