History of the house

Glencadam was founded in 1825 – the year after large-scale whisky production was legalized in Scotland. The distillery is located in the Eastern Highlands near the historic town of Brechin in Angus, surrounded by unspoiled nature and crystal clear water sources.

The water comes from Glencadam’s own historic rights to a spring in the Unthank Hills, contributing to the clean and mineral style of the house. The original pot stills have been in use since the beginning and are at the heart of the distillery’s character. With almost 200 years of experience, Glencadam has maintained its philosophy of elegance, fruitiness and uncompromising quality – and Origin 1825 Edition is a beautiful expression of this heritage.
