Glenfarclas Family Cask 2005 – Cask strength single malt with deep sherry power

A true powerhouse from one of Scotland’s most iconic distilleries. Glenfarclas Family Cask 2005 is an exclusive vintage bottling from the legendary Family Cask range – created for collectors, connoisseurs and whisky lovers seeking intensity, depth and uncompromising quality.

This single malt was distilled in 2005 and matured patiently in a carefully selected sherry butt (cask no. 2462). Bottling took place on August 2, 2024, directly from the cask and at full cask strength of 59.3%. Only 618 bottles have been released, making this edition both rare and highly sought after.

As always in the Family Cask series, the whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without the addition of colorant. The result is an authentic and unadulterated whisky experience where the deep character of the sherry cask and the classic style of Glenfarclas come together.

Tasting notes

Nose: Intense and deep sherry aroma with dried fruits, raisins and dark chocolate. Notes of leather and tobacco are accompanied by roasted nuts and a rounding sweetness from caramel.

Taste: Rich and complex with layers of dark cherries, figs and candied orange peel. Spices like cinnamon and nutmeg add warmth and depth, while the alcohol is powerful but nicely balanced.

Finish: Long, warm and spicy. The sherry notes linger with elegant sweetness, oak and a hint of mocha.

History of the house

Founded in 1836, Glenfarclas is one of the very few distilleries in Scotland that remains 100% family owned. The Grant family has run the distillery for generations, focusing on traditional pot still production, slow distillation and long ageing in premium sherry casks.
