Glenfarclas Family Casks 2000 #3286 – Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 52,8%

Glenfarclas Family Casks 2000 #3286 is a classic and deeply fascinating single cask bottling from one of Scotland’s most respected distilleries. Here you get real Highland single malt, drawn directly from a sherry butt and bottled at a natural strength of 52.8% – without compromise and without unnecessary intervention.

The whisky was distilled in 2000 and bottled on July 28, 2022 after more than two decades of quiet maturation. The active sherry butt (cask number 3286) has given the whisky a beautiful depth and rich flavor profile where sherry sweetness, spice and classic Glenfarclas character merge in harmonious balance.

Only 621 bottles have been bottled from this cask, making this a coveted limited edition. The Family Casks range is known and loved by whisky enthusiasts around the world, and this particular bottling is a prime example of the distillery’s ability to create powerful, elegant and aged whisky with personality.

Tasting notes

The nose is rich and inviting with notes of dried fruit, raisins, dark caramel and sherry, accompanied by spices and a light touch of oak.

The palate is full-bodied and rounded with nuances of figs, dark chocolate, nuts and spicy oak. The alcohol strength provides structure and intensity, but is beautifully integrated.

The finish is long and warm with lingering sherry notes, light dryness and an elegant spicy finish.

The history of the house

Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining distilleries in Scotland that is still family owned. Since 1865, the distillery has been in the hands of the Grant family after John Grant – originally a cattle farmer – bought Recherlich Farm and Glenfarclas Distillery for just £511.

Today, six generations of experience informs every bottle of Glenfarclas. The distillery is known for its traditional production methods, direct-heated copper pot stills and uncompromising focus on sherry-aged whiskies. The Family Casks range is the family’s own treasure chest and a tribute to both the casks and the history behind them.
