Sangenís I Vaqué Coranya 2015
Priorat with soul, power and finesse

Discover the essence of Priorat with Coranya 2015 from Sangenís i Vaqué – a wine made from 40-year-old vines grown in the heart of Porrera, where wine and history merge.
This wine is a sublime example of what happens when passion, terroir and time come together. The name Coranya refers to the specific vineyard where the grapes are carefully selected – a special parcel where the slate soil llicorella creates intensity, depth and layers upon layers of character.

Grapes and vinification
Coranya 2015 is made from 50% Carignan and 50% Grenache, both harvested from La Coranya – a vineyard with more than four decades of history. The wine is aged 12 months in one-year-old oak barrels – 85% French oak from Allier and 15% American oak – giving it a refined complexity without overpowering the fruit. It is neither filtered nor clarified, preserving the wine’s natural intensity and structure. With a limited production of only 4,000 to 5,000 bottles, Coranya is a true collector’s bottle for connoisseurs and enthusiasts.

Tasting notes – When wine speaks its own language
Coranya 2015 opens with a deep, dark bouquet of black cherries, ripe plums, dried thyme and graphite. In the mouth, you are met by a powerful yet silky texture where licorice, cocoa, warm spices and mineral depth balance elegantly with ripe tannins and fresh acidity. The aftertaste is long, persistent and carries distinct notes of slate and herbs – a true mirror of Porrera’s wild nature and terroir.

Sangenís I Vaqué – A family business with roots and heart
The story of Sangenís I Vaqué begins in 1978, when Pere Sangenís and Conxita Vaqué decided to revive the family vineyards in Porrera. But the legacy goes back even further: Conxita’s grandfather, Josep Simó, made wine in the area as far back as 1886, and today the wine is still made in his old cellar in Plaça Catalunya. Today, it’s the next generation – Maria and Núria – who, together with their father, continue the legacy with passion, precision and respect for nature. All fields are within the borders of Porreras, and all work in the vineyard and cellar is done with a focus on quality over quantity.
This makes Sangenís I Vaqué one of the most authentic producers in Priorat D.O.Q. – a wine region in Spain known for its powerful yet elegant wines with soul and depth.
