The 2021 vintage was exceptional in Tuscany. The spring frost only minimally affected the vineyards, but slowed down the development of the vines. The summer was hot and dry without extreme fluctuations, and ripening was completed in stable and moderate conditions. The long hang time ensured perfect ripeness in the grapes and particularly well-balanced tannins. The result is a wine with impressive finesse, structure and ageing potential.

Solaia is produced at Tenuta Tignanello in the heart of Chianti Classico and is made from a classic Supertoscan blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in carefully selected oak barrels, adding depth and refinement. The combination of ripe fruit, spicy notes and elegant barrel aging creates a monumental wine experience.

In the glass, the wine is deep and intense with impressive aromatic complexity. Notes of dark plums, licorice, chocolate and mocha meet nuances of spice, lavender and menthol. Oak and tannins are evident but perfectly integrated into the structure of the wine. It is a big and majestic wine with both power and elegance.

The history of the house

Marchesi Antinori is one of the world’s most historic and prestigious wineries. The family can trace its wine tradition back to 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the wine merchants’ guild in Florence. Since then, 26 generations have carried on the passion for wine and quality.

Today, Antinori is a member of the exclusive Primum Familiae Vini association, which consists of some of the world’s most recognized family-owned wineries. The family has been among the pioneers of Italian wine for centuries and continues to unite tradition and innovation in their wines.
