Taylor’s Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha Vintage 2004 is one of the rarest and most sought-after Vintage Ports from the Douro Valley. Vinha Velha means “the old vineyard” and this is where we find the heart of Quinta de Vargellas. The vines used are between 80 and 120 years old and are spread across five individual plots of land that together make up this historic parcel. These extremely old vines produce grapes of exceptional concentration, depth and complexity.

Although these parcels account for more than 15% of the winery’s total production, the grapes selected for Vinha Velha represent a maximum of 2%. The selection is rigorous and the result is an extremely limited release. Therefore, Vinha Velha is only bottled and released in very small quantities – and only in boxes of 3 bottles. This makes the 2004 edition a rare opportunity to secure a piece of Portuguese wine history.
