Champagne is a famous type of sparkling wine originating from the Champagne region in northeastern France.

Production: Champagne is primarily made from three grape varieties: Chardonnay (white grapes), Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier (red grapes). Champagne undergoes a special fermentation process that imparts the wine with its characteristic bubbles. This second fermentation can take place in the bottle (méthode champenoise) or in large tanks (méthode charmat).

Taste: The taste of champagne varies depending on the producer and style, but generally, it has notes of apple, citrus fruits, bread dough, and minerals. Some may also have hints of nuts and honey.

Types: There are several types of champagne, including brut (dry), sec (sweet), demi-sec (semi-sweet), and doux (sweet). Brut is the most popular and common style.

Serving: Champagne is often served in tulip-shaped champagne glasses to enhance the aromas and bubbles. It is served chilled, typically at a temperature between 6°C and 9°C.

Champagne is known for its luxurious and elegant character and is an iconic symbol of celebration and joy. It is also subject to strict rules and laws to carry the "champagne" designation, and it can only come from this specific region in France.

As a tribute to Louise Pommery, Pommery has been making this highly sought after, pure and immense mineral luxury cuvée from Champagne since 1979. The wine comes exclusively from specially selected plots on coveted Grand Cru fields in Avize, Cramant and Ay with a blend of primarily Chardonnay and a smaller portion Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Cuvée Louise 2004 is almost a signature example of a rich prestige cuvée, which with its relatively low dosage, singing acidity and extremely pronounced minerality seems extremely focused. Louise stands straw yellow in the glass with intense, elegant aromas of citrus, white flowers, nuts, stone fruits and lime. Focused and resilient, it really unfolds in the taste, where the fruit, the living acidity and the long, sharp mineral aftertaste are beautifully combined in this superb Champagne experience.

About Palmer & Co:

Palmer & Co is a renowned champagne house based in Reims. The company's history began as a cooperative founded by seven winegrowers in 1947. It has since evolved into a significant player in the world of champagne. Palmer & Co has 415 hectares of vineyards at its disposal, with approximately 200 hectares classified as Grand Cru or Premier Cru.

The philosophy of wine production at Palmer & Co focuses on achieving the perfect balance between traditional methods and scientific advancements. One notable aspect of their approach is the use of the solera system, typically known from sherry production in Jerez, Spain. This system is used to add depth to the reserve wines. Each year, the top layer of the solera, consisting of oak barrels, is refreshed with new wines from the latest harvest. Later, this wine is used as a reserve in their various champagnes, such as Brut Reserve and Palmer Blanc de Noirs.

Palmer & Co also has a deep wine cellar with an impressive selection of older vintage champagnes for sale. This makes them a valuable player in the champagne industry, combining tradition with innovation to create exceptional champagnes.
