Pierre Ferrand Memoire Vintage Collection 1914 cognac

Pierre Ferrand 1914
Memoire Vintage Edition

High quality cognac is usually the resul of blending "eaux de vie" of different ages. Occasionally, we taste older cognac of such incredible smoothness and character that they desserve to be bottled totally unblended. Rarer still, are the small lots of several such as the 1914 Pierre Ferrand. These will have lain in dark, damp cellars for many years.

Pierre Ferrand 1914
Memoire Vintage Edition

The Pierre Ferrand Memoire Vintage 1914 was distilled by hand at the beginning of world war 1 in a tiny wood fired alambic pot still in Grande Champagne. The best cognac distillet. Since all the healthy males had been sent off to fight, the job of supervising the distillation fell upon the women of the estate. And just as the distillation decisions are made with the nose and to a lesser extent with the palate, the style that evolved was lighter and more elegant than that of her father and husband. This cognac has spent 75 years in Limousin oak barrels before being transferred to glass demijohns at the peak of its matusity.

Tasting notes:

The color is dark amber with golden highligths. The aromas of almond, vanilla and prune are integrated and well balanced. On the palate you will taste layers of flavours. fruits with touch of wood, ending in a long velvety smooth finish.
