Aalto Blanco Fuente de las Hontanillas 2023 is an exclusive white wine from Bodegas Aalto in Ribera del Duero. Made from 100% Verdejo, this wine showcases an elegant and more serious side of this classic Spanish grape variety. It offers fresh fruit, lovely body, and subtle spicy notes from barrel aging.

The grapes come from high-altitude vineyards in Ribera del Duero. Here, the cool nights allow for slow ripening and help preserve the grapes’ natural freshness. The soil consists of sand, clay, and limestone, among other elements. The relatively nutrient-poor conditions cause the vines to dig deep in search of water and nutrients.

The 2023 vintage was characterized by significant weather contrasts. A cold and dry winter was followed by a mild spring. Frost and storms marked May and June, while the summer was very dry and hot. The harvest began in early September.

After vinification, the wine was aged in 500-liter oak barrels. The large barrels add complexity and structure without overshadowing the fresh fruit of the Verdejo grape. The result is an intense and well-balanced white wine with lovely acidity and impressive body.

The aroma opens with fresh notes of pear and crisp apple, followed by subtle spicy tones from the barrel aging. The palate is intense and full-bodied, yet fresh and elegant.
